His versatility, resilience and ability to handle five demanding disciplines make him one of the leading figures of Czech modern pentathlon. He represented the Czech Republic at three Olympic Games.
His greatest success came at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, where he won gold and became Olympic champion in modern pentathlon. Over his career he also won a number of medals at the World Championships, European Championships and World Cup events.
Since retiring from elite sport he has been coaching at the Dukla Prague army sports centre, passing his experience on to young athletes and helping develop both modern pentathlon and youth sport.
